The house used as a cannabis-growing plant was rented to one Akashi Harry* for $95,000 a month, a lawyer’s letter posted on the site says. Two addresses are given for Mr Harry, the Clearwater Bay Road house and S S Property Services Ltd, London.
The letter from Deacon’s names the landlord as Dannies Land and Finance Ltd, which is based at Dannies House, Wanchai. The lawyers inform Mr Harry that their client did not know about the illegal usage of the house before learning of the police Christmas drug bust. With the usual solicitor’s pomposity they advise that they will be after Mr Harry for the rent arrears.
Workers are clearing the house, next to Clearwater Bay school and opposite the Caltex station, of gear used for marijuana production. Ducts, extractor fans, batteries, lights and unused plant pots have been heaved out of the burgundy-coloured house.
The dogs have gone. According to Chinese press reports there were five guard dogs. A BUZZ reporter saw just two. We hope they haven’t been taken by the AFCD which is likely to kill them.
At Christmas police raided the house on the trail of what appears to be a Vietnamese drug gang. Earlier they found cannabis in a van at a Taipo roadblock, which led them to a house in the town that also turned out to be a pot farm. Leads took them to the Clearwater Bay house. A total of four Vietnamese and one Chinese were arrested and processed or semi-processed marijuana worth $21 million was seized.
* Note: For legal reasons BUZZ makes it clear we are not suggesting that Mr Harry was involved in the alleged illegal activity.
