A case of legionnaires' disease reported in Po Le Che Village

Last Saturday, 20 January, the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) notified a case of community-acquired legionnaires’ disease in a 67-year-old male patient with long-term conditions and living in Po Le Che Village. CHP is conducting an epidemiological investigation to find out the possible sources of infection, including high-risk exposure factors and whether there are any other cases.
As of last Saturday, this year CHP received three cases of legionnaires’ diseases, with 72 cases in total in 2017 and 75 in 2016. CHP reminds members of the public to use and maintain well-designed man-made water supply systems, while vulnerable persons need to take relevant preventive measures at all times.
