A burglary at Luk Mei may not be what it seems at first, the police say.

Senior Inspector Max Yip, second-in-command at Sai Kung station, said the owner of a vacant house in the village checked it on July 25 and found a window had been prised open. A TV set, hi-fi, printer and Buddha statue were missing.

Police inquiries found a civil dispute is going on over the house’s ownership and the property within. Max said, “We assessed it might not be a genuine burglary.”
