We all know that Sai Kung had lots of rain in June. In fact, far more than the Hong Kong Observatory in Tsim Sha Tsui. The HKO reported that the total rainfall recorded in the month at the Observatory was 656.0 mm, about 44 percent above the June normal of 456.1 mm. However, some parts of Sai Kung had up to 875 mm during the month – that is 34 inches in old money!!
For the record on 13-14 June alone there was over 250mm (nearly 10 inches) in the urban areas and beyond. And that’s not all; during the month there were 28 thunderstorm warnings issued and 5 amber and 2 red rainstorm warnings issued.
